For the model years mentioned in the title of this section, you can use two methods to reset the oil status indicator.
For Models with a Multi-Information Display
If your Honda Civic trim, such as the Sport or DX features the beautiful multi-information screen, you need to turn the ignition to the 2nd position (ll), but don't start the engine. If your trim has a smart key, make sure to push the start button twice without touching the brake pedal.
At this point, you should press the info button on the steering wheel until a wrench icon appears on display. Next, hit Enter until the oil life appears, then press and hold that button again to reset. Scroll down and select All Due items before hitting the Enter button to confirm. All done!
For models without the display, turn the ignition on without starting the engine or press proceed to push the start button twice, again without touching the brake pedal. Next, press the trip knob until you reach the oil life percentage icon; it should be blinking. Then proceed to hold down the knob until the oil life percentage resets. All done, you're a pro now!
