The 2022 Honda Civic shares nothing with the outgoing model. It features a more mature design language that offers a more exquisite design, a lower front end, a rounded rear, and elements that scream luxury. The front lights are more prominent and wrap around into the front fenders; the lower mesh grille is more expansive and reaches further up towards the Honda emblem. The A-pillars have been pushed back by almost two inches, leaving a longer and more muscular hood. Overall the Civic has grown 1.4 inches; however, the styling makes it look like a mid-size sedan from a distance.

Under the hood, the Civic will continue to utilize engine architecture that has been tried and tested. The base model will boast a 2.0-litre 158 horsepower four-cylinder; this engine is one of Honda's prized possessions. It offers exceptional fuel efficiency and reliability. The optional engine is a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that now makes 180 horsepower. Both engines are paired to Honda's continuously variable transmission that provides a smooth and exciting drive. Car and Driver states this is one of the quickest and well behaved Civics ever. The Si and high-performance Type-R variants are in the works and promise to offer engines with more power and torque.
